• Princesses of the PS3

      photos/slide6.jpg

There have been a lot of animated beauties in the history of video gaming. My personal favourites would have to be Eva from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Anna Williams from Tekken 2 (no doubt because her celebrations were very sexual, and I wasn't even 10 years old). Below are some of the finest exhibits on display, limited to characters from the PS3.

    • Top 10 Must Get Games for 2010

      photos/slide3.jpg

As 2009 draws to an end, it opens another great year of gaming. With 2009 in the books, it leaves us looking into the next year for what lies ahead. Luckily for us gamers, there are plenty of great games lined up to release early in 2010. Here's a look at some of my most anticipated titles for early 2010.

    • How To: Play PlaystationX and Nintendo64 on PC, Using a PS3 Controller

      photos/slide4.jpg

PS3 is a thing of the past. Today, I played Modern Warfare 2 for about 10 minutes until I realized how boring this game had become to me. So I turned off my PS3 and sat on my laptop, playing Rugrats: Search For Reptar on my PSX emulator for a whole 2 hours. Hard. Fucking. Core.

    • The Most Overrated Games Thus Far

      photos/slide1.jpg

There are plenty of games out there that have left me puzzled as to why the gaming press have received them so warmly. I am about to share some of these with you.

    • This Quarter Is Gonna Be Expensive!

      photos/slide5.jpg

So it's the 1st of January, the start of a massive year of games for the PS3. Not so much for the Xbox 360 though.

    • The One Reason My Recorder Got Used In Primary School

      photos/slide2.jpg

No, it was not used in the fashion of today's youth - as a means of exploring your sexuality. No, my recorder was used for a much more noble and a strangely more arousing pupose - to attempt to call out to horses, to teleport to far off temples, to speak to some bitch that lived in a forest with a bunch of fairys even to turn night into day.

Allo, Cogsworth here. Some of you might be wondering how a deceased old bludger like myself is communicating with the living? Well, the kind staff here at 6A summoned me, that's how. If you have a problem with that, then maybe we need to step outside.

This month in From The Grave, we'll be taking a look at a game based on one of my favourite sports - football. The world game as it's known comes a close second to my other sporting passion; cock fighting. With such a long list of titles out there, this little french tickler still remains my favourite football simulation of all time. Actua Soccer, released in 1995 on the Sony Playstation.

Oats and barley! I loved this game. I still remember playing this game for the first time with my nextdoor neighbour Jimmy Grieves. Oh, the memories came flooding back I tell you! I started to reminisce about my glory days of playing sweeper for the Kidderminster Harriers back in the early 1960's. Speaking of which, I still hold two league records. Most seasons without scoring a goal and I'm the only player to ever take the corner flag out, and try to stab somebody.

Back to the game for a second. Brazil was my team, led by the flair and speed of Romario. I have to admit the sound effects were quite shallow, and I got pretty fed up with hearing the same recording of 'Romario!' play everytime my man touched the ball, but it didn't change the fact that this game was a lot of fun. Simplicity was the key - pass, shoot and run.

The first football title to use a full 3D graphics engine, Actua Soccer to date is still the best simulation released on a console for it's era. The simple controls made the long seasons fly by and the introduction of polygonal players instead of traditional 2D sprites made for a truly exciting experience. A gaming landmark.
